Where It All Began and Where It Is Now
I am a bookworm. From a young age my face has been firmly stuck in a book. So much so that when I misbehaved as a child and was sent to my room to "think about what I had done" part of the punishment often included the caveat "and don't even think about reading right now!" For me, fond memories of summers of my youth revolve around trips to the library and the thrill of being told by my mother that, just because I was not an adult did not mean I had to stick to the kids' section of books. I may have been reading Jackie Collins at an age that was entirely too young but I also discovered Mary Higgins Clark, J.D. Sallinger, James Patterson and a lifelong love of anything to do with the library.
As an adult, my proudest book and library related memories are the days I took each of my children to get their first library cards. Getting their very own library cards is what drove them to learn how to write their names! Instilling a little bookworm into each of them has been one of my favorite parts of parenting. 2020 has been a hard year and not being able to peruse the stacks in the library has been the thing I have missed the most. Curbside pickup is great but it is not the same.
Which brings us to where it is now. This blog has been a someday dream and here we are now, a bookworm starting her own blog, finally, because this year has taught me that it isn't how it was and might not be how we want it later.
